The object of the Foundation for the Settlement of Automation Disputes (Geschillenoplossing Organisatie & Automatisering (SGOA)) is to mediate, resolve and, if necessary, settle disputes in ICT-related matters, in the broadest sense. ICT disputes are understood to mean: disagreements between parties who entered into an agreement with respect to hardware (computer, chips and peripheral equipment), and/or software, consultancy, telecommunication and/or the internet. If so desired by the parties involved, the tasks performed by SGOA may also include ensuring that the chosen solution, binding third-party rulings and arbitration rulings are satisfactorily executed in accordance with the intention of the parties involved.
Over the years various forms of dispute resolution have been developed, such as mediation, summary arbitral proceedings, expert report, binding third-party ruling, cooperation monitoring and E-ADR (electronic alternative dispute resolution). The number of cases has risen steadily over the past few years. The solutions offered by SGOA have contributed to a swift and professional settlement of disputes, enabling parties to concentrate on more constructive matters. Everyone can call on SGOA to resolve ICT conflicts. Clients or suppliers are not required to be a member of an industry or professional association.
